Anybody know a practical way to find out if a specific poem by Charles Badger Clark Jr (mainly known as just Badger Clark) was made into a song. Many of you know that "Spanish Is A Loving Tongue" is taken from one of his poems ("A Border Affair"), as, reportedly, were many songs sung out on the trails, by real cowboys from early in the 20th century, but how to get a handle on which ones of his many poems were used as songs? For example the song "High Chin Bob" comes to mind, from his poem "The Glory Trail." This was initially mistakenly identified as an anonymous folk ballad. Aslo, how many, if any, were sung on the silver screen by Hollywood cowboys?
I finally have a collection of most of his work and have a notion to look into setting a tune to other poems of his, but I'd like to know what has already been done - as the muse will, on an airline hop, I opened the book randomly and a tune almost literally jumped out of my subconscious for his poem "The Old Prospector." How 'bout it, 'catters, any ideas? (If anyone in the universe would know about this, it's the folks here!)
Thanx, BK
