Two songs that always moved me were sung by my father. He was in the 51st Highlanders and after the fall of St Valery they made their way to Cherbourg and caught the last boat from France. The two songs he brought with him; Apres La Guerre Finis (to the tune of Under the Bridges of Paris) and St Valery (don't know if that is the title) I made the mistake of not learning the words from him and with his passing (to me) the songs are also gone.
