The version in the DT is more accurate that the one above. Words by P. J. McCall, author of quite a few patriotic things, later 19th c. I think; tune he used is traditional, early 19th century maybe, called "Eochaill" in Irish, Anglicised as "Youghal". There are several translations of the words. |
