The first instrument I learned to play was a mandolin back in 1971, and old pear shaped back one, But I've played flat backs ever since the mid seventies. I currently own a 1992 model Flatiron Mandolin that my best mate Andy Sugden gave me when he bought his first Stefan Sobell 5 course mandolin. I also have an Andrew Whale Octave Mandolin which is very nice. I play Irish stuff mainly and use them to accompany songs (as an alternative to guitar accompaniments) I've always been a great admirer of Andy Irvines style of playing. I have played with a number of bands over the years but at the moment am solo.
