I have Verizon DSL, and have found it to be generally satisfactory. It does not officially support my news & mail reader (Gnus), but in fact Gnus works. It is true that its spam filtering has sometimes been overzealous; sometimes legitimate business mail to me from Europe has been rejected. But there is a "whitelist" service that can overrule the filter, once you find out what has happened.
