You might try the site for Friends of Florida Folk.... http://www.foff.org/ they ought to have information about what goes on in the areas you are interested in. Dunedin tends towards bagpipes, actually, but there are several places in the Clearwater/ St.Petersburg/ Tampa/ Dunedin area etc. that do live folk music... there's also a place in Sarasota called The Sailing Squadron... you may want to check that out as well - I don't actually know how much music they do there, but I have been to a couple of "sea chantey" type performances there in the past, both of which included an open mic before the show.There are other folk music venues in Sarasota also.
