Anyone catch Bruce doing his "Seeger song" on Leno last night? Had some fine (and scarred) acoustics, a banjo (which was lost in the mix basically), fiddle (lost)...but also a brass section, keyboard, drums, a batch of female backup singers, etc. To me, it was just overkill--I keep thinkin' about ol' Pete with his Vega longneck, strummin' out this stuff himself. This is like (to me) Seeger Spector-ized (as in Phil Spector). Bruce sang fine, but the "ensemble" was anything but folky! I really like the fact Bruce did the album, and a lot of folks will be introduced for the first time to a living folk legend--Pete Seeger. HOWEVER, I felt the song he did (and I didn't catch the title) was just waaaaaay over-produced, y'know?

Anyone own the CD (I don't obviously--not a major Bruce fan)? Is there just some really basic, simple instrumental work and a song by Springsteen without all the glitz? Just wonderin'.....????
