Announcing a Beer and Folk Event from 1.00pm to 11.00pm on Saturday 17 June 2006 at the Cock & Bottle in Bradford, West Yorkshire (the new but venerable venue of the also-venerable Topic Folk Club).

This is not strictly a Topic club event, but as part of a four-day beer promotion at the Cock & Bottle there is live music this coming Saturday, and Topic regulars are involved.

It'll start with the C&B's regular Saturday lunchtime Irish Session from 1pm, and then from about 4.30 pm there will be a continuous programme from artists familiar to regular Topic members, including Mulberry Blue, Emily and Ben, Lyn Geddes, Tony Charnock and Rahel Guzelian, Bruce Baillie, Eddie Lawler, and Clive Leyland and several of his friends from Bandersnatch. Topic MC and act-booker John Waller will MC this and perform as well. If all make it as promised, it'll be on until 11.00pm.

At least 13 real ales will be available, at below their usual prices; and two of them will have been brewed on the premises... The pub started brewing on-site again this spring, after a 79-year gap.

There's a lot going on in Bradford that day: the Mela in nearby Peel Park, the University's 40th anniversary party, football screens in the city and the ever-present opportunity of a curry.

Check the Topic website for any updates/more info about this event, the Topic and its 50th anniversary season, and the history of the Cock & Bottle (one of Bradford's oldest pubs) itself.

Nick
