Ah, yet another example of two great nations dividede by a common language! In the UK, "suspenders" hold up stockings, and "braces" hold up trousers. In the US, "suspenders" hold up pants, which in the UK are what a lady wears in addition to stockings and suspenders [that is, if she *is* a lady...], while a "garter belt" is used to hold up stockings; "braces" go on the teeth of adolescent children to make them straight. "And so 'tis as clear as the summer sun..."! ~D
