Over the years I've had no luck locating a recording of a song that might be titled "Horse Trailer on a Cadillac"/"You're Talking to the Cowboy in the Coupe de Ville", or even any evidence that it existed. It was on a homemade compilation of songs performed by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. (I borrowed this one from a different boyfriend in the mid-1980's!) Y'all (Peace, actually) just helped me track down a folk song I told a similar tale about--so here goes: These are all of the lyrics that I can currently remember (includes some mistakes): Refrain: 10-4, buddy, come on back, horse trailer on a Cadillac, You're talking to the cowboy in the Coupe de Ville Chug a lug up one side, fly down the other I'm a lover of the other side of the hill That's what my daddy told me How to ride the bull Got a jingle in my jeans Sore places in between I'm leavin' Tennesse With a [purse and bull] . . . Jump while he's moving Just walk away . . . Turn up that radio And don't think about rodeo Don't think about Roundup Up in old Cheyenne It's a crazy circuit But you still work it Just turn the sound up Let's check the scan
