It sounds like a lovely life, Eric. I have my own home island to return to - Cape Breton. Years ago, a Glasgow scholarly type 'studying' us Capers passed on this Lewis anecdote to me: A gentleman took a long holiday in Lewis, and was very concerned with not offending his hosts or the community, so did his best to conform. On Sunday, he went to church, and afterward, being restless, thought he would take a little walk, as that would surely not be considered 'working' on a Sabbath. Off he went, but on returning, he found several elders frowning in disapproval. "Walking about on the Sabbath, Sir!" "But surely", the gentleman protested "Even Our Lord and Saviour was known to have walked about on the Sabbath!" "Aye", he was answered, 'But he wudnae hae done it in Lewis!"
