I agree with Guest #2. The Carter Family never (in the Gilbert and Sullivan sense) used [2] chords; it is one of the things that gave them their distinctive sound. When we (the Orpheus Supertones) recorded it recently (Mudthumper MM-0030) we did it with the chords given above. So did the Red Clay Ramblers in "Songs of the Carter Family" and so did the Original Carter Family. Don't know too many recordings of this great song! |
