Have just been sent the following info which may be of interest. I haven't been to the sea week and I can't make it this year. However I did do the summer school on Inishboffin which was a wonderful experience. I've got the CDs that they made from the music and poetry that was at the sea and bog weeks and they are impresive.

Letterfrack – Oct 20th – 30th


1984 – 2006

This is the 22nd birthday of Conamara Environmental Education & Cultural Centre the organisers of the annual Conamara Sea Week that takes place each autumn in the lovely Quaker village of Letterfrack.

The Conamara 'Week' which lasts for ten days will have its usual mix of artistic, cultural and sporting events involving children and adults all wrapped up in the best of traditional music featuring such fine players as Sharon Shannon, Jim Murray, Conor Keane, Maíre Keane, Liz Kane, Mattie Joe Sheámuis, Johnny Connolly,

Johnny Mhairtin Larry, Yvonne Kane and lots, lots more.

The festival culminates with the Sea Week Conference – the theme of this years conference is '20 20 – imagining the future' – particularly as its effects the coastal community

It will have a star line up of scientists, poets, and musicians such as Lelia Doolin anthropologist, Bev Thorpe scientist & former member of world body of Greenpeace, Michelene Sheehy Skeffington ecologist, Paul Connolly & Micheál O Cinneíde from the

Marine Institute
