I have a copy of the Gene Autry movie where Roy Rogers plays an outlaw. It's called "The Old Corral" and Roy isn't really a bad guy. He and his brothers, played by The Sons of the Pioneers, hold up a stage to finance their singing career (If I'm lyin', I'm dyin'). They sing several songs and, of course, so does Gene. I saw a lot of old Tim McCoy films on TV. He had been a real colonel in the US Calvary. His son had a short career as a western star, too. I did like Rex Allen but I prefer the singing of Gene and Roy. As I have said, I don't remember Roy ever doing a traditional song but Gene did quite a few. I always think of Tex Ritter as part of the era of Tom Mix and Hoot Gibson, so far before me that their films weren't shown on late night TV. sic transit gloria Mike
