Well... that depends.

I grew up with continual radio play of Hank Snow, Merle Haggard. Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, Jim Reeves, Burl Ives, et al. I can appreciate to some extent this music, but will never listen to it or play it by choice.

OTOH, my mother played guitar and sang us children very old songs, old train songs, coalmining songs, 1930's favourites, old spirituals, some folk. That music has had a life long influence on what I like.... though she may not appreciate where some of it's led me. ;-D
