I was in Turkey not so long ago - on the beach where one species of giant turtles lay eggs once a year (to my eternal shame I don't know which species but I do know this is thought to be the only beach where they come to breed). The Turkish gov't has made the laying zone a no go area and although there must have been a 1000 plus holiday makers this side of the line; no-one crossed the line. So general levels of awareness must be rising - the message IS getting through.
