A form of music for the Scottish bagpipes involving elaborate variations on a theme, typically of martial or funerary character. Well, thats the OED definition anyway...says it comes from the Scots Gaelic word "piobaireachd", the term for the art of piping. I knew it had somethin to do with the pipes. hmm...maybe too formal a response to be much help? |
