Peter Rowan is a great singer, and a great guitar player, with a resume that extends back to Bill Monroe... but in my opinion, the pot-oriented stuff is his weakest material, and the pandering to the Deadhead contingent at his concerts with "Free Mexican Airforce" and junk like "Midnight Moonlight" is where a great artist trivializes his own performance. I have nothing against dope; used to love it, in fact. But dope-material and fusion crap like "reggae-grass" make Rowan somewhat of a clown. Listen to him sing "Midnight On The Stormy Deep" on the album he recorded with Don Edwards (High Lonesome Cowboy) to hear what he can do.
