I just dont like the whole scene, an old killjoy I might be ,and I know the kids get a kick out of it, but it doesnt feel right for kids to dress up and go begging, with a slight implicit threat. I never see kids where I live, and suddenly there they are all happy excited voices and expecting sweets, or other goodies. I hadnt got anything suitable to give them, but the first group I gave two apples ,then hardened, and suggested the next group gave me a treat, mind you that was after a couple of beers. I note that there are usually mums hovering in the shadows in case of funny stuff. The next morning I was a bit remorseful ,and glad the front of my house was intact. Sorry I dont like it. We used to do naughty things in Yorkshire on Mischievous night (AKA) but that generally involved knocking on doors and running away. The only begging we did was Penny for the guy, which we did'nt cart round from door to door. Am I a solitary old sourpus or what percentage of people think like me.
