Just want to say 'hi' to everyone I met at the 2006 Getaway. It was a great experience, and I loved every minute of it. Pity I didn't know about the late-night jams, or I'd have happily joined in. Special thanks to Charlie, Dean and Rita for facilitating my participation (don't try to say that quickly when you've just eaten a box of crackers)... I really appreciated your warm welcome, and was glad I didn't goof up too badly leading my first-ever sessions. I particularly loved: the Copper family session -- haven't sung those songs for years; Lisa Null's beautiful, pure singing; the Shape Note singing (wow!); Joe Newberry's exquisite banjo playing; Dan Schatz's amazing technique on autoharp (I didn't know it could sound like that!); Sylvia Herold's singing of the new version of The Two Sisters; Micca's wonderful parodies... and meeting so many friendly folks who are as immersed in music and words as I have been all my life. Made me feel normal! :-) Actually, it just made me feel at home. I hope I'll be able to return next year -- am working on it. Have a gentle winter, everyone. Jill
