Shay Black, with Myra Chaney, will perform a sea music concert aboard the historics square-rigger Balclutha, berthed at Hyde Street Pier on San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf.
The concert is on Friday, December 8, 8pm. Tickets: $14 general, $12 San Francisco Maritime National Park Association members and library friends members. To reserve: 415-561-6662, ext. 12. Tickets also available in person at The Maritime Store, at the foot of Hyde Street Pier.
Shay Black is the eldest sibling of Ireland's Black Family of singers. He sang with Stan Hugill for ten years during his time in Liverpool, as a member of Stormalong John. He's a great performer in his own right, bringing a powerful voice, fine guitar accompaniment, and great stories of Stan Hugill.
Accompanying him will be Myra Chaney, cello. Myra is a brilliant young musician, one of a growing number of cellists re-introducing the cello as a traditional music instrument, and taking it in new directions.
This will be an exciting finish to this year's sea music concert series, presented by San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park, National Park Service.
