I also have a Bodhran with no crossbars. It is deeper than most, and when I play, I use the heel of my left hand (most of the time) to alter the pitch, which requires that I use pressure against the skin inside the Bodhran as I move my hand across it. I am able to achieve an unusually wide range of pitches this way, but I don't see how a strap would allow me to apply the needed pressure against the skin. I should think that one might come up with a brace which would allow for the Bodhran to be solidly positioned, as are many percussion instruments for marching bands. If Willie Nelson has a stand for his Guitar that works, what about a stand for a Bodhran?
