You should try FOLK LEADS>>>this is a new magazine now reached issue 5..this is devoted to articles from a wide selection of the famous and not famous who write about the background and context of folk songs; traditions ;instruments ;music;songs with music; dancing etc. there are no reviews or gig listings so the magazines don't date..you could collect them all. Issue 1 and 3 are sold out/out of print but issue 4 and 5 are currently available. This is excellent value at £2...some 67 pages with the only adverts (for music shops )being on the covers. Hobgoblin ,The Music Room and PJ Music keep copies..otherwise they can be got through the GroveFolk club, Leeds website...and various folk clubs/festivals where the distibutors happen to be.
