Dear Miss Odetta, you're the first folk singer i ever heard as a child. i shall never forget the sound of your incredibly moving voice or your fabulous guitar style! the first folk album i ever heard was Odetta At Carnegie Hall. i clearly remember the first tune on side A...If I Had A Hammer. the strumming patterns and the complex fingerpicking on a Child Ballad. i thought at the time it was two guitars being played. i sure hope you are rewarded with a Kennedy Center Honor one day! it would be fitting imho. lastly, you've really inspired me as a folksinger and guitarist. cheers, Folkie
