Cars, kitchens, sofas.... everyone has them, so it's worthwhile spending the money advertising your product to masses.

Motorcycles, guitars, bicycles.... in comparison, they are less widely bought and potential buyers tend to go out and buy a magazine when they start looking, hence the vast number of adverts for motorcycles, guitars and bicycles in their respective specialised press.

I HAVE seen motorcycles advertised on UK television, but only in the breaks during major m/c sport events. Ditto bicycles during the Tour de France coverage, but both were a few years ago now.

I bet there is a really poor correlation between people involved in the above specialised sports and hobbies and those addicted to the "reality" TV and home-makeover shows which monopolise our schedules.
