XM seems somewhat like a public service because it offers channels devoted to music genres long since abandoned by commercial FM stations. If this merger clears the regulatory hurdles and the folk channel fails to survive the subsequent programming alterations, I'll almost certainly cancel my subscription and look into internet radio options such as Folk Alley.
