Frank and Anne Warner made field recordings of mainly unaccompanied singers in the 1940s and 50s - people in rural parts of North Carolina, New York, New Hampshire and a few Midwestern locations. The originals are at the Library of Congress in Washington DC, but their son, Jeff Warner, brought out 2 CDs of this material in 2000. Being field recordings, it's rough stuff, but it's also the Real Deal! Go to his website, www.jeffwarner.com, and then go to the "sales" link to get more info. If you want an mp3 of one of the songs (to see what you're getting into!), we can get you that. Write to Jeff through his website - tell him Barbara sent you.
