I saw Waterson-Carthy recently, and the melodeon player (sorry, can't recall his name) had a velcroed pickup on the right-hand end of the box, and a wrist-band with a mic that he put on his left arm for the bass side of the instrument. My guess is that there was no "sweet spot" for the bass notes, where a mic would get all the sound, so he had the mic a set distance away from the bass reeds by putting it on his wrist. I don't know why he didn't do the same on the melody side. Interesting, eh? Bob Clayton
