Tarheel, it is not necessary to "kill off" cattle. This problem we are facing is far too all-encompassing to hinge on the 20-year survival of an individual cow.

Same with people. We don't have to kill people- we only need to drastically cut the birth rate. Attrition would take care of the rest.

As far as cattle as a food source is concerned, it is well known that if we WERE vegetarian, eating only the things that cattle eat instead of eating the cattle themselves, it would be far more efficient. It takes a heap of grains, grasses and vegetables to put a pound of flesh on a cow.
