That's assuming that the "honour chord" isn't a deliberate momentary fluctuation from Ionian into a mixolydian tune Ced2. Or perhaps these traditional players DONT actually understand modal theory at all...maybe they perform instinctively? >ducks< What amazes me is that universities think it's necessary to teach modes.
