The longer we stay in, the worse our departure will be and people will blame the dems for not standing up to Bush as they were voted into office to do.
That Bush bears the blame is beyond dispute. It's not who is to blame that matters. It's who the people decide to assign blame to. The longer we stay in, the more likelihood of dems inheriting the war and ending up with the blame no matter how badly it ends and how inevitable it was from the day we invaded. Once dems inherit it, it's their baby. They'd better force an end to this war and they have no real way to do this now until the next fiscal year.
Everybody's talking about a big showdown in September but I see no reason September will be any different than May. Bush will simply demand more time be given to the surge and that if he doesn't get it, then Congress obviously doesn't care about expending every effort to win this war. So Congress will once again cave in and so on and so forth.
And before they know it, THEY own it.
