The collapse of the folk clubs was brought by the very concept of the folk club itself. The day we all went into the BACK ROOM of the pub,put a sign saying "Folk Club,Entrance,Members 2/6,Non-members 3/6",we had effectiveley lost it. Personally I gave up on Folk Clubs about 25 years ago. My wife and I,musicians,singers,morris musicians,festival organizers etc have paid our dues to the cause,in my case for over forty years,and quite frankly folk clubs deserve to collapse because most of them are dire. Get out of the back room,get into the bar and take the music back to the people from whence it came!
