OK, dear mudcatters, this thread is accomplishing good things in that we are learning about some Tyrolean and (thank you for the information, Susanne!) steiermärkisch songs. I have been thinking how to throw some more information into the ring that might conduce to finding the target song. I mentioned that as I remembered it had a Phrygian modality, but that's only half true. The cognatively meaningful verses are Phrygian, but the yodelly refrain is major. As best I can recall it: so-la ti ti ti-do re re mi re do re-do ti so-la ti ti ti-do re re mi re do re-do ti (Short notes are hyphenated, long notes stand alone; only so and la lie below the finalis.) And the refrain: mi do so mi-re-do-ti-re so re ti so fa-mi-re-do-mi so mi do so mi-re-do-ti-re so re ti so fa-mi-re do (Here only so and ti lie below the finalis. Perhaps someone will recognize the tune, if not the words. Stephen
