I was just looking at the band shell in Golden Gate Park, which will host Jugfest this August, and thinking about the acoustic reasons for building band shells back in the days when they were built, and who played in them. The U.S.M.C. band, and plenty of others, keep alive the music of J.P. Sousa. But, what about the music of W.C. Handy? Isn't it time that the blues community spawned a W.C. Handy cover band? I'd just like to plant that seed and hope that somebody makes it grow.
