I'm amazed at what a piano accordion can take. We discovered one in the attic of an old house here in Houston (where you don't want to leave anything in an attic; our summers are merciless). I gave it to a friend who had always wanted to dissect an accordion, assuming it would be so rotted out inside that the workings would be unrecognizable. However, when we took it out of what remained of the box, the bellows looked a bit dry but it made an in-tune (in tune to itself, at least) and perfectly harmonic accordion noise when squeezed. Impressive. I expected some groaning and maybe some puffs of dust.
