I am curious as to whether the Irish song "The Wheels of the World" was written to an original tune or borrowed an earlier tune. Jim McLean's song "The Wallace" was written to the same tune but the name means nothing to Jim (see thread on this as "William Wallace"): he only remembers it as an Irish tune. The song I refer to begins "Come all you true sons of Erin, attend to these few nimble lines": I came across it in an oldish song book as "Trad." and that very fine singer Len Graham used to sing a shorter version.
