Tried microvox, tried audio technics, and a lot of cheapos - swear by AKG C411, for guitar, mandola, piano and even banjo! Unfortunately, they've just stopped doing a 48v phantom version and now only do the 9v phantom version. (I never had any trouble with the 48v phamtom versions and happily use 3 of them, but some people commented on an inherent low fq rumble). Tom Brown
