If you want the REAL dope on the music industry, try this one. It also gives a breakdown similar to the one mentioned by flattop previously. In fact, I suspect it may be the same guy.

I have seen several "real" band/music sites linked to it and they all seem to feel it is an accurate portrayal of the recording industry -- from the inside. OUCH!!

As for Napster: I have been using it for a couple of months now and use it to listen to the music of bands I've heard OF but never listened TO. If I like what I hear, I buy the album; if I don't, I move on. On the other hand, I don't own a portable MP3 player, so for me there's no real temptation to "steal" the music.
