When you hike Mt. Mitchell, try to go early in the day on a weekday. It's so quiet and not too many people about. It's one of my favorite places on earth. Walk through the balsam forests and just breeeeeaaaaathe.......really deep. Go to the Folklife Center and spend too much money :~). In Asheville, go to Jack of the Wood pub. You may just catch John Doyle sitting in on a session. Asheville is his hometown now.
