I ended up bringing the following instruments to last year's FSGW Getaway, as loaners to people from out-of-town: 1964 Martin D-28 and my 1944 Epiphone Zenith archtop guitar I also brought other instruments, but I think they were ones I wanted to sell; I can't remember. Now, if I hadn't known the borrowers, I'd have been less interested in doing this, I will say. To a stranger, at a session, I guess it'd depend on what I had with me. It would probably be the equivalent of a beach guitar, if I had one. Maybe my newest guitar, a Chinese-made "Woods" guitar, purchased because that's my wife's maiden name. In fact, I loaned that to an out-of-towner at the most recent FSGW open sing, now that I think about it. It would depend on what was available. And the ability, style, and character of the borrower.
