M Ted may not know it, but Southern culture stops at US 40, which transverses Indiana. Southern Indiana is the South, and the northern part of the state was not, at the time, all that much different. If the Southat that time didn't condone lynching, the Indiana lynchers wouldn't have been so likely to lynch. Might have done so, yes, but it's less likely. Bob
