I first saw Monte at a coffee house called the Bell, Book and Candle in Crystal Beach, Ontario around 1963. We had a small group called the Five Quadrants and thought we were pretty hot. Monte and another chap came in to do a guest set and he just blew me away. At that time he was known as a finger picker, but, a few years later I saw him in an Ian and Sylvia concert at McMaster University and he could flat pick with the best of them. A fabulous musician and a major influence in my musical life. Thank you Monte
