Just a bit of curiosity here. When you sit down to learn a song that was written or recorded by someone else - how do you go about it? Do you learn the song and then perform it virtually note-for-note? Do you get it down "pretty close" to the original but leave a little room for your own interpretation; or, do you just learn the words, figure out the chords and get the "gist" of the melody - allowing for a lot of interpretation on your part? Or, maybe you take another approach all together - so, how do you do what you do when you do what you do for us? Cheers.
