Lighthouse, you're right about the DC5 covers, but they did some great originals - Tom Petty used to do a killer cover of "Any Way You Want It" live.

Since we're talking British Invasion bands, Herman's Hermits version of the doo-wop classic "Sihouettes" sucked . On the other hand, the Animals' version of John Lee Hooker's "Boom Boom" was a monster, and the Beatles' covers went from the sublime ("Long Tall Sally," "I Call Your Name") to the ridiculously sublime ("Mr. Moonlight").
