Sometimes it doesn't even need a double translation to hit the hilarity-meter. Something prompted me a while ago to try Google's translator on what has to be about the simplest poem ever written in German, Goethe's Wanderers Nachtlied II. The translation was bumblingly awkward but reasonably accurate almost to the end, when (just wait!) suddenly Mr Spock got called to the bridge or something ... Over all summits is rest; In all treetops you hardly feel a breath: The small birds are silent in the forest. Control room only! Balde rest you also.
