How about the school teacher who appeared on the TV quiz show 'Eggheads' (UK) last week. Question (paraphrased) was,' John Montagu had which food item named after him when he refused to leave the card table to eat' a) The Pork Pie b) The Sandwich C) The Jam Tart His answer? Yep - The PORK PIE He didnt stop to consider that a pork pie is so-called because it is a pie full of pork! Or that a Jam tart is a tart full of jam! Even if he does not know that John Montagu was the 4th Earl of Sandwich, surely he could have eliminated the other two. And he teaches our children !!
