I learned it a little bit differently. The last verse was about taking Germs to school, not church. I take him to school but nobody ever sees This shaggy little spotted dog a-sittin' on my knees He's learning to read and he loves our happy songs But he often falls asleep when the teacher talks too long! I learned this one in school, so maybe that's why they changed it. Either way, I always wondered...how does the singer know Germs has spots, if he's invisible??? ;-)
