I have wonderful early memories of Pete Mundey singing with the Broadside at the Grimsby Folk Song Club circa 1969. The full band was John Conolly - Vocals, guitar, whistles and squeeze box. Bill Meek - Vocals and bad jokes. Brian Dawson - Vocals, accordian and fiddle. Pete Mundey - vocals, banjo, mandolin and whistles. Tommy Smith - Tenor Banjo and mandolin. Mike Lee joined around that time and, I believe, replaced Pete when he moved to Germany a couple of years later... His voice was rich and warm and he sang wonderful harmonies. His other famous song 'Sweet Thyme" has gone into the tradition. I wonderful man with lots of encouragement for a new performer (me) with wobbly legs and shortness of breath. I believe he died in the mid seventies. Pete Sumner
