this probably has nothing to do with the above , but my dad's xmas party piece used to be a song called proschai, obviously once a jazz or ragtime number , the tune of which closely follows the folk song described above which i've downloaded..

there's an ancient russian story
which sings of love in all its glory
its called proschai
which means goodbye , goodbye my love, don't sigh -
i'll soon be returning to you -

i love you dear
i love you so sincerely
every night when the russian moonlight
reminds me to say proschai

The chorus then consists of singing PROSCHAI a lot..

any ideas anyone ?
