I'm not one of those people that always comes up with a quick one liner or an instant clever reply, and I'm not that good at telling jokes. So don't tell jokes and forget clever replies. If it gets into a battle of wits laugh at someones joke smile and move on Do the things you are good at look at your act and see whats interesting that you can talk about. If you need something then talk about the material you are doing Who wrote it.Anything interesting about them or the song. How you have got on learning it using it disasters or triumphs Other peoples adaptions and so on Listened to a chap do this a few weeks ago and it was entertaining. Harvey Andrews above uses this sort of approach. But script what you are going to say, learn it and practice just as you would a song thats how the professionals do it. You have to appear confident and comfortable even if you are terrified. So its a performance yes... Harvey Andrews has it right if you are going to do something tell a story. Target of all stories should be you. No problem adapting jokes as stories about you if you want. Good luck Fantum
